To describe the journal’s scientific profile, the editorial team uses the following categories from the All Science Journal Classification (ASJC), which is used in Scopus:
- General Environmental Science — ASJC 2300.
- Water Science and Technology — ASJC 2312.
The journal’s principal scientific focus is irrigation, drainage and reclamation of irrigated land, including soil salinity, water-saving technologies, hydraulic structures and hydraulic modelling, water resources management, climate and hydrological risks, and the application of geospatial and digital technologies in the water sector. Research in related fields is considered when it makes a clear contribution to these areas.
Peer review process
Following initial editorial screening, original research and review articles undergo double-anonymous peer review: authors’ and reviewers’ identities are not disclosed to one another. The editorial team obtains at least two independent expert reports for each scholarly article.
The final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or an authorised editor without a conflict of interest, taking into account the reviews and authors’ responses. Submissions by editors and editorial board members are assessed independently against the same scientific standards. Submission does not guarantee acceptance or publication within a fixed period.
Open access and copyright
All scholarly articles are freely available immediately upon publication, without a subscription, mandatory registration or embargo. Publications are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0), which permits distribution and adaptation, including commercial use, with attribution, a link to the licence and an indication of any changes.
Authors retain copyright and grant the journal a non-exclusive right of first journal publication. The applicable licence is stated in each article; previously published materials are not automatically relicensed.
Article processing charges
The standard APC is USD 100 per accepted article. In 2026, costs are fully covered by TIIAME NRU: the amount payable by an author is USD 0.
There are no manuscript submission or peer review fees. In 2026, authors are also exempt from all other publication fees. Institutional funding and fee waivers do not influence peer review or editorial decisions. All applicable fees and the arrangements for covering them are disclosed before submission.
Publication ethics and editorial independence
