Abstract

The article evaluates the level of industrial noise generated at pumping stations, determines
the duration of workers’ exposure to noise, and proposes new solutions for noise regulation. A
D1600-90 pump unit was selected as the research object, and the noise levels generated by the
unit were measured using the NAD-1 device. The research results showed that the noise level
varies significantly depending on the operating mode of the pump unit. In particular, the unit
generated noise levels of 48.2–49.6 dB under normal operating conditions, while during overloaded
operation the noise level increased to 100.7–104.4 dB. During a single work shift, the noise level
was recorded to vary from 48.2 to 104.4 dB. According to the results of time-motion observations,
employees working at the pump unit were exposed to high noise levels for an average of 5 hours
and 43 minutes during one work shift. The implementation of the NAD-1 device and the “Smart
Headphone” intelligent monitoring system reduced the noise level affecting workers during a work shift to 56–59 dB.
